Preparation

Peel the potatoes, carrots and onions, then cut them into thin slices.

Mix the potatoes in a bowln with 200 ml of light cream and season with salt, pepper and a little nutmeg.

Grease a baking dish and add the potatoes, onions and carrots. Pour the cream over them.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (top and bottom heat) and bake the dish for a total of 50 minutes. While the dish is in the oven, peel the tomatoes and cut them into rings.

For the last 15 minutes, take the baking dish out of the oven, top with the tomato slices, and sprinkle with the grated cheese. Return it to the oven immediately and bake for the remaining 15 minutes.

Vegetable gratin

Golden brown, wonderfully fragrant and full of flavour – a vegetable gratin from the oven is soul food for cooking enthusiasts. When waxy potatoes, sweet carrots, aromatic onions and sun-ripened tomatoes are combined with delicate single cream and tangy Gruyère, the result is more than just a dish: it is a tribute to simple ingredients that come together to create something special.
