Preparation
Place all ingredients except for the cantuccini into a bowl and mix well with a whisk.
Pass the entire mixture through a funnel and sieve into a 0.5 L whipper. Charge with one charger and shake approximately 8 times. Place in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.
To serve, crumble a few cantuccini into a glass and carefully layer the mousse over them. Drizzle with a little Limoncello and top with another layer of Limoncello mousse from the whipper.
Limoncello mousse is a true all-rounder, perfectly balancing sweet creaminess with a zesty acidity. Here are some occasions and pairings where it truly shines:
The perfect finale to any meal
This mousse is ideal as a refreshing finish after hearty or rich main courses, such as meat dishes, roasts, or creamy pasta. The citrus notes act as a palate cleanser, providing a light and airy conclusion. This dessert is a wonderful addition to Italian-themed evenings, Sunday roasts, or barbecue parties.
Seasonal Match
Summer and Spring
When it’s warm outside, nobody craves a heavy chocolate cake. Limoncello mousse is the ultimate summer dessert. For the best experience, serve it chilled directly from the fridge in pre-cooled glasses.
The Perfect Pairing
While the mousse is delicious on its own, it becomes even better when combined with other flavours. How about adding cantuccini as described in this recipe, or perhaps amaretti? The almond flavour and crunchy texture provide a fantastic contrast to the light mousse. Fresh berries such as blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries also complement the acidity of the Limoncello perfectly.
To drink, we recommend a chilled glass of Limoncello, a dry Prosecco, or a classic espresso.
Special Occasions
With its elegant yellow-and-white appearance and a sophisticated splash of liqueur, this dessert feels much more refined than a standard pudding. It is the perfect choice for garden parties, birthdays, or any other special celebration.
